Editorial Reviews
Pancakes, eggs, and bacon somehow taste extra hearty when cooked in a heavy cast-iron skillet. Cast iron creates superior heat retention, heats evenly, and loves a campfire, unlike flimsier pans. Fry up a mess of catfish, roast a chicken, or bake an apple crisp in this generous 12-inch pan that features two handles for heavy lifting, and two subtle side lips for pouring. While the skillet comes preseasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayed or lightly coated with vegetable oil before use. Whether used in a kitchen or camp, this virtually indestructible pan should last for generations.--Ann Bieri

Great Product! (2008-11-30)

This is a quality product at a reasonable price. I made cornbread in it a few nights ago and it came out great. Would definitely recommend.
Quality like always (2008-11-25)

This was not my first Lodge purchase, nor will it be my last. As always, quality was top-notch. What really makes this a very practical and useful pan is its overall size when you compare it to 12 inch stainless steel skillets. The shorter handle and off-side grip make it very practical and efficient for items that you want to sear and then finish in the oven.

Good item. Came well seasoned and ready to use. Great price - I would recommend it.
I love it! Maintains good even heat. Still trying to "care for it" (2008-11-23)

This is my second iron-first from Lodge Logic. This one is much better than my other cheap one (which I tossed). I live in a very humid climate, so I'm always fighting to keep it from rusting. I've used it about 20 times and I'm still oiling it. I don't cook a lot of greasy foods, so that might be why it's taking so long to be seasoned very well...even though it is "pre-seasoned." I use a regular scrubber, but need to get a metal one. That might help.
I love the size. When it's oiled really good, it's perfect. The heat is maintained very well. It doesn't cool easily. Even cold eggs don't cool it off. Things cook much faster than with my old teflon.
Cast Iron Sausage, Bacon & Egg Cooker (2008-11-19)
Customer Review : 5
I wanted a large, cast iron skillet to cook enough sausage for my wife and I for several days and not leave a strong odor in the house. The Lodge, 12" skillet is great! I cook 20 pieces of sausage, in two cookings, on our outside grill to keep the odors out of the house. We store the cooked sausage in the refrigerator and use it as needed. The skillet has also fried some mighty fine bacon and eggs. Clean-up is a breeze. We use the metal spatula to scrap the skillet bottom, pour the grease and scrapings into a jar, wipe out the skillet with a paper towel, and quick wash, if needed.
