Wonderful for any baby or toddler (2009-01-07)
Customer Review : 5
I am a speech-language pathologist who teaches sign to infants and toddlers with speech and language delays. I also have a typically developing toddler daughter. This dvd is absolutely fantastic both for children who have no difficulties with speech and language, to help them reduce frustration when they are not understood, and for children who have delayed speech and language development. This is much more engaging and entertaining than any other signing product I've seen yet. Children love it, and parents, you will not be able to get the songs out of your heads. (Hopefully, a positive thing.) It is wonderfully entertaining, and makes it very easy for parents and children to learn sign language.
don't pass this up! (2008-12-31)

i researched all the signing videos and ended up purchasing this one. i began my daughter watching this when she was about six months old. at first she just liked watching it and it kept her entertained while i did some chores. well, she is now one year and can pretty much do all of the signs on the video and i have just got her vol. 2. it is amazing how many word she can sign and she puts them together to tell me what she wants. her verbal skills are vast as well, and myself and her pediatrician attribute this to learning sign language. do not pass this video up. and buy it as a shower gift. you will be so happy when your little one asks you for more cracker.
Spastic. More hyperactive entertainment than education (2008-12-16)

I bought this after borrowing the original (before it was remade) Signing Time from the library. (Rachel in her red sweater with long hair.) I loved the original Signing Time. It was educational, calm and still entertaining. I got Baby Signing Time thinking it would be similar, but with signs more specific for a baby. But, Baby Signing Time is distracting and spastic. The signs are buried under so much extraneous movement, color, scene-shifts, music, etc, that the video's educational value is questionable.
This is the hyperactive, short-attention-span-encouraging, cutesy stuff that I did not want to expose my child to.
I much preferred the low-budget, real people, original Signing Time. Unfortunately, I don't know if it's even possible to get that anymore.
any child can do this... (2008-12-16)

This step by step video was a very helpful teaching aid for our grand daughter. she now has a very large vocabulary due to the clear teaching method used. I recommend this video to anyone with exposure to very young children. Any child can benefit from learning to sign.
Great Starter Series (2008-12-15)
Customer Review : 5
The Original Baby Signing Time 1 & 2 wonderful. Engaging and catchy music that help the children pay not to mention fun singing and signing in the car.
The comment these are two produced is a bit premature, check out series 2, they have gone way way too produced and formulaic. These are great starter DVDs (and CD's). Our children loved them, and when they were 18 months old had over 200 signs (yes we did get the entire series 1, it was great and well worth it). Our kids are now older and still sign often and spontaneously.
