Created before the days of computer animation, Dinosaurs is an early 1990s television comedy series featuring impressive anthropomorphic, animatronic creatures created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. The story lines challenge some of society's most basic assumptions and explore some of the most universally troublesome aspects of "civilized" life. Set in six million three BC, the Sinclairs are your "typical" blue-collar dinosaur family attempting to adjust to the relatively new concept of communal living. The adjustments of moving from a nomadic lifestyle to one of domestication and social interaction are many, and challenging issues like the concepts of right and wrong, faith, and the intricacies of family relationships are forever besieging this every-man's family. Naturally, the Sinclair family approach is to address each obstacle with an abundance of slapstick comedy. The Dinosaurs episodes regularly function on dual levels: the puppetry and silly antics like Baby Sinclair's penchant for hitting her father over the head with a pan while hollering "Not the Mama" appeal to even the youngest children, but the often pointed social commentary and sometimes mature themes are squarely aimed at an adult audience. As a result, parental discretion and guidance are key in determining whether this series is appropriate for children under 9 or 10 years old. --Tami Horiuchi

In december 2008 I found out my niece has been wanting this for years so I got it for her for xmas she was so shocked.The only place I could find it at this terrific price was on amazon.com I even went to disney couldnt get thru was cut off alot. thank goodness amazon had it. thanks it made her christmas and mine!!!

This show was alot of fun. During the birth of my first granddaughter the
nurses and I were saying "I'm the baby, brand new, just out, gotta love me". I am hoping they will enjoy this just as much as we did when it first came out.

Great,great tv show! Loved it as a kid, still love it. Very funny and great for the whole family. Cant wait to get seasons 3+4!

This show never got the attention that it deserved. My father loved it and quotes it all the time, so I was glad to be able to buy this complete collection for him. One simply cannot go wrong with the works of Jim Henson's crew. If you are looking for a show to share with your family, I reccomend this. It is a little bit Honeymooners, a tad Roseanne, with a dash of the Muppets.

Dinosaurs as a show was extraordinary in confonting some important (and occassionally off-beat) issues in a format that allowed both adults, and kids, to look at the world around them in a different way.
Now, the DVD package itself is pretty good in design. The only issue that came up for me was how the discs were stacked. They're stacked 2 per side, which normally isn't a problem, but, at least with my case, the discs didn't stay put much. Even though I save the DVD cases and use soft-cases for all my discs, I find that loose discs can sometimes be a nightmare during shipping, but my DVDs didn't suffer any damage.
The DVD menu leaves a little to be desired, but at the same time, it ensures that there isn't a huge technological gap between the TV-to-DVD conversion of the content with the menu.
Overall, the case is great, the shows are perfectly migraded to digital format, and the content is just as meaningful as it was when the show first aired. An easy 4 stars, I give it 5 for the excellent transition to DVD.
If you enjoyed the show, or are interested for the first time, you won't be disappointed.
